welcome to marchant Meadows preserve
NOTICES: Closed to horse and bike through traffic at Gate 1 (5/26/2026)
Trail Status: The river is coming up and the cattle are going out on the property for the spring grazing period. Remember to be kind to the trail as spring weather brings both hot and snowy days — please refrain from using the trail when it is muddy, Remember that it’s especially important to be diligent about leashing dogs during migratory bird season and when the cattle are grazing on the property. Expect some small infrastructure projects to be occurring in the parking lot area throughout the late spring and early summer (Updated: 5/19/2026).
Trail status at Marchant Meadows depends on both weather conditions and the property's active grazing schedule. In the spring, much of the property is subject to flooding, and trail use may be limited during that time to protect trail surfaces and keep visitors safe. When cattle are present on the property, gates must remain closed and foot traffic only is permitted, as Marchant Meadows is an active agricultural preserve. Please respect all trail restrictions and closures.
Located in Peoa, Utah, Marchant Meadows Preserve protects 86 acres of historic agricultural land along a vibrant stretch of the Weber River. Once known locally as Three Rivers Ranch and held by the Marchant family for six generations, the property features two branches of the river, lush wetlands, and mature cottonwood groves that support diverse wildlife including migratory birds and a longstanding great blue heron rookery. Acquired and stewarded by the Summit Land Conservancy in 2020 as its first publicly accessible preserve, Marchant Meadows plays a vital role in protecting water quality, habitat, and open space in the Kamas Valley, while offering opportunities for low-impact recreation and connection to the landscape.
Thank you for respecting Marchant Meadows Preserve and for following the Preserve rules during your visit. By keeping dogs leashed, honoring seasonal closures, and not using motorized vehicles on the property, you’re helping protect the wetlands, wildlife, and clean water of the Weber River. Your care makes a real difference in keeping this special place healthy and open for all to enjoy.
The Weber River Pathway is a partnership between Summit Land Conservancy, Oakley City, and South Summit Trails Foundation, and other partners. The goal of the project is to connect trail along the Weber River in the Oakley area, protect the land above the bank for recreation, and preserve the agricultural heritage and scenic value of the Kamas Valley.
