The Great Weed Pull | Saturday, June 13 | 8:00 Am-12:00 PM | Miss Billie’s Preserve (Summit Community Gardens)
With spring fully in swing, join us for our next Stewardship Saturday at Miss Billie’s Preserve (Summit Community Gardens)! Join us and our partners at Summit County & Basin Recreation as we pull invasive Dyer's Woad, Thistle and White Top while they are in bloom and before they can release their seeds. These are all aggressive, introduced plants that grow rapidly and create dense thickets which crowd out our native grasses and wildflowers. When we remove these weeds, we help to restore our local grassland ecosystem and ensure that native plants can thrive and support the wildlife that depends on them.
Rock Solid Restoration | Saturday, September 19 | 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Round Valley
Join Summit Land Conservancy and Serve Park City for a hands-on day restoring one of Round Valley's seasonal streams!
Together, we'll build Zeedyk structures, simple rock structures that slow water, reduce erosion, and help stream and wetland systems heal naturally. During the winter and spring, this intermittent stream carries snowmelt through Round Valley, but years of erosion have carved deep channels that move water too quickly across the landscape. By strategically placing Zeedyk structures, we'll help slow the flow, spread water across the floodplain, reduce erosion, and sustain a healthier wet meadow habitat for plants and wildlife.
