PRESENTING… THE JACKALOPE – the ‘does it exist’ party for open space!

Due to COVID-19, we can’t have a Blue Sky Bash this year. But we ARE still having a party.

How does it work? Leave those cowboy boots in the closet. Don’t hire a babysitter, and don’t call an Uber. Get comfy, grab a drink, and get ready to stay at home.

In the next few days, fix yourself a cocktail, watch this video, narrated by our fabulous auctioneer from the Blue Sky Bash, Larry Flynn. We hope you feel comforted, inspired, and hopeful about the future of open space in our community.

The Summit Land Conservancy felt it wasn't appropriate to ask local businesses for donations during the pandemic.  Other than a few pre-arranged and unsolicited (yet incredible) items, all our auction items are things we came up with ourselves. If nothing else, we hope you'll enjoy descriptions.

BERRY BUZZED SMASH:

2 oz American Prairie Bourbon

1/2 oz fresh lemon juice

1/2 oz maple syrup

Handful of blackberries (can also use blueberries or whatever berries you have at home)

Small bunch of basil (can also use mint if that's what you have)

Lemon seltzer (La Croix)

Muddle berries and basil in a mason jar. Add whiskey, lemon juice, maple syrup and ice. Cover and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE. Strain. Add splash of lemon seltzer and garnish with a sprig of basil and lemon twist-- if you're feeling crazy, throw a few berries in there too!

cinny whiskey swizzle:

Cinnamon stick

zest of 1/2 orange

2 oz American Prairie Bourbon

1 oz orange juice (you gotta get your Vitamin C somehow!)

Club soda

Muddle cinnamon stick and zest with whiskey and OJ in a shaker.  Strain and pour over ice, top off with soda. 

BITTERLY SWEET:

2 oz American Prairie Bourbon

4 oz apple sparkling water of your choice (Bubly is recommended)

splash of grenadine

splash of simple syrup

1 tbsp lemon or lime juice

SMOKY CHERRIES:

In a Highball glass mix -

2 oz American Prairie Bourbon

1/8 tsp or less Barbeque Sauce (yep, you read that right— don’t substitute ketchup!)

Add ice & tonic water

Garnish with a cherry popsicle
