By coming together, we protect something bigger.

Every contribution
preserves a piece of something forever.

We all have our reasons for wanting to be responsible stewards of this land. Maybe it makes you feel more alive to mountain bike the perfect single-track of Round Valley or ski through the wide-spaced aspens of Empire Canyon. Maybe you love savoring the forested vistas from your kitchen window in the morning. Maybe you value the chance to let your kids and grandkids play and learn surrounded by nature. Maybe you love cooking with locally farmed produce. And maybe you know that open spaces are a boost to our property values and our tourism economy.

Your donations make it all possible: they allow us to do our conservation work, pay for appraisals and surveys, and draft the complicated legal documents that ensure this land is safe forever.

 the mountains are calling.
and it’s up to us to save them.

Giving options:
a way for everyone to make a major impact.

Land conservation means different things to different people—so it’s fitting that there’s a way to give that suits each of us too. There’s a perfect way for you to make a difference, whether you donate monthly, designate a portion of your regular online shopping to come our way, make a large gift of stock, or act as a conservation buyer. Your gifts matter!

become a summit society donor
or monthly donor

Monthly donations provide a stable, year-round source of funds for our efforts. And they help you by spreading out your gift over the year.

Online donations are securely processed by Network For Good, which will send you an email receipt, lets you know that a donation is about to be charged to your account, and allow you to adjust your giving at any time. We’ll send you a summary of your annual monthly giving after the end of each year.

If you give $1,000 or more annually (roughly $84/month), you become a member of our Summit Society—you’ll receive special invitations to receptions, events, and private site visits.

donate through everyday shopping

Did you know that major retailers like Smith’s, Amazon, or others will donate a portion of all sales to Summit Land Conservancy if you simply designate us as the recipients? You can:

  • Register your Smith’s Rewards Card to give a portion of every sale to our conservancy (use code 30245).

  • Shop on Amazon Smile for anything you’d normally get on Amazon, and 0.05% of all qualified purchases will be donated to our organization (don’t forget to designate us as your cause of choice).

  • Designate a “micro-donation” to go to us with every purchase you make at any of 3,165 popular stores by using Giving Assistant.

Donate through
a donor-advised fund

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to support your favorite causes.

If you have a donor-advised fund, DAF Direct enables you to recommend grants to this nonprofit directly from your DAF (as long as your DAF's sponsoring organization is participating).

Now you can even donate to Summit Land Conservancy directly from your DAF. Make a major impact on our efforts by directing a gift from your Fidelity, BNY Mellon, Greater Kansas City CF, or Schwab Charitable donor-advised funds.

purchase land to conserve

Would you like to own 4,000 acres or more of beautiful Summit County range, with its forests, streams, and incredible wildlife? You can create your own reserve by purchasing farmland or ranch land and protecting it through permanent conservation easements. Not only will you have a private reserve to admire and enjoy, but the purchase may be eligible for tax benefits too.

donate a stock gift

Did you know the Summit Land Conservancy can accept donations of stock?

Stock transfers are an excellent way to further our cause without paying capital gains taxes on your stock gift.

We appreciate your support of local open space!

the weber river watershed initiative: preserving clean drinking water for future generations

The money we raise here stays here to safeguard the lands you treasure. In 2009, Summit Land Conservancy launched the Weber River Watershed initiative to preserve land along the Weber River and its tributaries. We work with willing landowners to protect working farms and ranches in the Weber Basin from development ensuring that we, and future generations, will have clean drinking water. The Weber Basin supplies drinking and irrigation water for approximately 21 percent of Utah’s population. The sustainably managed farms and ranch lands protected by the Conservancy filter water, absorb and store seasonal runoff, and help to mitigate flooding and major weather events. Our work also preserves public access to prime fishing areas.

How you can help save thE WeBER river watershed:

Share this information with your friends who’d like to preserve heritage ranches and provide clean drinking water to future Utahns. And…donate! (We ask that gifts above $5,000 be given as checks, directed gifts from donor advised funds, or the transfer of stock.) Thank you for caring for this land as we do—each open space benefits us all down the line.
